Mizuno Sports Equipment donated $5,000 in sporting equipment to Laguna Hills Little League Intermediate Diamond Backs at a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Laguna Hills on Saturday morning.

Twelve players ages 11-12 on the Diamond Backs were surprised with all-new Generation bats, baseball gloves and batting gloves free of charge at the store in the Laguna Hills Plaza Shopping Center.

Dick’s also conditioned the gloves with the Mizuno Glove Steamer, which breaks in new gloves so they are game-ready within minutes.

From Feb. 14 to 22, players and fans are also invited to Dick’s Sporting Goods to get their gloves steamed for free with the purchase of a Mizuno glove costing at least $15, to kick off the store’s baseball and softball week festivities.

“These are the moments that inspire us at Mizuno,” Mizuno USA spokesman Harper Cornell said. “The enthusiasm of these young passionate ball players, ready to hit the diamond, is contagious.”

“We love sports and the energy sports evoke in budding athletes,” Cornell said.

The Little League season begins Feb. 28.
