One of the best drills for keeping things simple and grasping the various swing components is what I call the Hitchhiker because it teaches you to swing through, instead of at, the ball while increasing clubhead speed and improving balance.

Flip a club and grip it with your left hand just above the face.

Grab your left wrist with your right hand and take the club back so your thumb points toward your ear in a hitchhiking manner.

Continue the swing to the top, again with the thumb in a hitchhiking position.

Start the downswing with your hands in the same positions.

At impact position, make a swishing sound with the shaft. The louder the swish, the farther the ball will go.

Finish the swing and hold the pose for 3 seconds.

Now set up to a ball and imagine you’re in a batter’s box. Instead of focusing on the ball, focus on knocking the tee toward third base and holding the finish. Do this 60 times a day for about a month and you’ll develop a consistent and repeatable swing.
