Sherwood Cares will be the official charity partner of the PowerShares QQQ Championship, a new Champions Tour event set for Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks Oct. 27-30.

“Charity is embedded in our culture, the foundation on which we build relationships, how we give back to the local community and what we feel is the right way to do business,” said Greg McLaughlin, president of the Champions Tour. “We couldn’t ask for a better partnership than withSherwood Cares, and all that they do for children and families here. We know that by partnering with them, they’re offering support on a multitude of levels and we’re humbled to be able to have a hand in helping.”

Sherwood Caresserves children and families in the Conejo Valley and Ventura County through programs that address educational, medical, nutrition and safety needs. Through the support of various organizations and Sherwood Country Club members, grants have been provided to 15 charities totaling $150,000 since 2014.

The PowerShares QQQ Championship will be the first of three events in the new Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, with the Dominion Charity Classic and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship rounding out the inaugural Playoffs that will determine the season-long Charles Schwab Cup champion.

The top 72 players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings will compete in the PowerShares QQQ Championship for a $2 million purse, before a smaller field moves on to the Dominion Charity Classic and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
