The USC men tied for second and the women finished fifth in the second golf tournament for both squads this season.

For the men, senior Andrew Levitt and sophomore Jonah Texeira individually tied for fifth at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Ore., Oct. 6. The Trojans combined for a 34-under 826 (272-276-278), tying for second with Duke, three shots behind winner Wake Forest.

Levitt’s three rounds (69-70-67) were the three best of his USC career, spent mostly as a reserve.

“Andrew had a great summer. We are proud of him for getting through a rough patch with his golf and coming out the other side,” said USC coach Chris Zambri. “We definitely wanted to win and are disappointed that we didn’t. That being said, there were some really great things out of everyone, but especially Andrew and Jonah.”

Sophomore Sean Crocker tied for 16th at 6-under 209 (67-68-74); junior Rico Hoey tied for 19th at 5-under 210 (69-73-68); and freshman Justin Suh tied for 39th at even-par 215 (67-71-77).

The Trojans return to action Oct. 16-18 at the U.C. Collegiate Championship in Alpharetta, Ga.

For the women, junior Karen Chung followed her season-opening win with a tie for second while junior Tiffany Chan tied for 14th at the Windy City Collegiate Championship Oct. 6 in Chicago.

The Trojans, coming off a school-record effort in their opening win, finished at 8-under 856 (283-283-290), four shots back of a three-way tie for first between host Northwestern, Arizona and Georgia. Arizona State was fourth at 11-under 853.

Chung finished at 7-under 209 (68-71-70); Tiffany Chan tied for 14th at 2-under 214 (69-71-74); Gabriella Then tied for 19th at 1-under 215 (72-70-73); and Robynn Ree tied for 41st at 4-over 220 (74-71-75).
