The inaugural Women’s California State Open will be held Oct. 12-13 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. The event, presented by the Southern California PGA Section and the LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals, will have its official practice round at the Beaumont facility on Oct. 11.

“I am beyond excited for the creation of this event, providing another competitive opportunity specifically for women professionals and amateurs,” said Susan Roll, the SCPGA’s independent director.

Morongo Golf Club’s par-72 Champions Course will play at around 6,000 yards for both days of the championship, and the 132-player field will vie for a purse expected to be a minimum of $32,000. Amateurs must carry a GHIN index of 9.6 or below at time of entry.

SCPGA tournament chairman Mark Wilson “looks forward to the inaugural Cal State Women’s Open, hoping to provide more quality playing opportunities for women’s golf now and in the future.”

Registration closes Oct. 5. To learn more, or to register, visit scpga.com and click on the Tournaments tab.
