It’s easy to have too many swing thoughts when standing over a shot, but that just makes the game more difficult to play.

That makes the cliché of a picture being worth a thousand words applicable to this situation. Rather than think about a million things during the time you have before addressing the ball and hitting the shot, picture yourself making a nice and fluid swing. Better yet, picture your favorite pro’s swing and try to emulate his smooth motion and acceleration through the ball.

While that’s helpful, it can also be harmful if you don’t know what to do with the information. I suggest trusting a teaching professional with understanding your movements and goals so you can keep the game as simple as possible.

So, pick your favorite swing and try to copy it. Don’t try to mimic the positions, just the motion and rhythm. This will keep your mind on positive things rather than whether your body parts are in the right place.
