It’s been quite a recent run on and off the fairways for Donald Trump, who now has 17 elite golf clubs in his portfolio.

His purchase of Turnberry in Scotland, overseeing renovations at Doral and his namesake New Jersey club being picked for the 2022 PGA Championship are some of the things that have gotten the real estate mogul and television personality some increased publicity.

And now his Southland connection can be added to the spotlight because Trump National Golf Club – Los Angeles has been selected as the host site for the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in October. The showcase of the year’s major champions is part of a multi-year agreement between the PGA of America and the Trump Organization and marks its first return to the mainland since 1993, having most recently been held in Bermuda and Hawaii.

“The PGA of America begins a new chapter in celebrating the winners of the Masters, U.S. Open, Open Championship and PGA Championship through an exciting partnership with the Trump Organization,” said PGA of America president Derek Sprague. “We are pleased that Trump National Golf Club – Los Angeles will provide a great challenge to the game’s finest players.”

In addition, PGA Grand Slam week at Trump National will feature the 2015 PGA Junior League Golf Championship, and all of the events will be aired on Golf Channel in another move that PGA of America CEO Pete Bevacqua says will bring more prestige to the event on the ground and over the air.

“This was truly a trifecta of circumstances to the betterment of all parties – from a spectacular venue in Trump – L.A. to Golf Channel’s ability to elevate this unique event with a primetime showcase and robust news coverage surrounding the event,” Bevacqua said. “Really, what we are doing with the Trump Organization is a fulfillment of our mission.
