A good drill to help with rotation and proper turn on the backswing doesn’t require a club or a ball. The goal is to learn how to rotate your chest, which is the secret to a great body turn.

Here’s how to do it:

Stand with your right foot a couple of inches from a wall.

Get into your posture – like you’re setting up to hit a 7-iron – and put your left thumb in your sternum and your left elbow facing the target.

Turn your elbow to the right and try to get your arm parallel to the wall, or, if you’re really limber, to touch the wall. Make sure your thumb is touching your chest and you stay in your posture while making the turn.

Do this consistently and see how much better your turn is on the backswing.
