American Golf has added Whittier Narrows Golf Course to its nationwide portfolio of daily fee and private clubs. The 27-hole Rosemead site, that does about 100,000 rounds year, also has a lighted driving range, restaurant and catering facilities.

“The property is beautiful, the course conditions are excellent, and we have three distinct nine-hole layouts with options for not only experienced players but for beginners as well,” said Steve Donar, the new general manager at Whittier Narrows. “In addition to our golf course, we can also host weddings, receptions and private events.”

American Golf was awarded a long-term lease with Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation for the operation of Whittier Narrows, and the course will join the more than 50 California properties under American Golf’s management, 20 of which are other public courses located in the L.A. area.

“We are extremely proud to welcome Whittier Narrows into the American Golf family,” said Jim Hinckley, CEO of American Golf Corporation. “We look forward to the opportunity to build upon our strong relationship with Los Angeles County.”

Jorge Badel, senior golf director for the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, calls Whittier Narrows “one of the crown jewels of the Los Angeles County golf system.” His office oversees the largest publicly owned golf course system in the country, with 19 courses at 17 facilities.

American Golf and its subsidiaries now operate nine County of Los Angeles-owned courses, and an American Golf-operated L.A. County course has won the L.A. County Course of the Year Award 12 of the past 15 years.
