Six golfers from USC, three from UCLA and others with Southland ties have been selected to the Pac-12 Golf All-Century teams.

Representing the Trojans are Scott Simpson, Sam Randolph, Craig Stadler, Dave Stockton, Lizette Salas and Annie Park; former Bruins are Corey Pavin, Tiffany Joh and Kay Cockerill. San Diego native Phil Mickelson, who attended Arizona State, is the men’s Golfer of the Century, and Orange County native Tiger Woods, who went to Stanford, also are on the team.

Players were selected on the basis of their collegiate careers by a panel of 30 consisting of coaches, players, administrators and members of the media. Highlights for regional players include:

Simpson was a back-to-back NCAA individual champion in 1976-77 and a first-team All-American those same years. He won the Haskins Award (golf’s Heisman) after winning the second of his back-to-back NCAA championships in 1977.

Randolph, a two-time conference Golfer of the Year, was a three-time All-American and winner of the Haskins Award in 1986. He won 12 titles while at USC and competed on the 1985 U.S. Walker Cup team before he turned professional

Stadler was a four-time All-American for the Trojans, earning first-team status in 1973 and 1974 and second-team in 1972 and 1975.

Stockton was the 1963 Pac-12 individual champion and a three-time All-American between 1961-63.

Mickelson, who competed with the Sun Devils from 1989-92, was one of only four players to be named first-team All-American for four years. He won a school record 16 tournaments, including NCAA titles in 1989, 1990 and 1992, and was named Pac-10 Player of the Year three times (1990-92).

Woods, who left Stanford after three years and became one of the most famous people in the world, was a first-team All-American in 1995 and 1996 and also won the conference’s individual title in 1996.

Salas, a key part of USC’s 2008 NCAA title team, is the only two-time Pac-12 Player of the Year (2009 and 2011). She became USC’s second four-time All-American as a 2011 senior, earning first-team honors for the second time. She also was a Honda Sports Award finalist that year.

Park was a three-time All-American for the Trojans and led USC to the 2013 NCAA title as a freshman. She finished her three-year career as USC’s leader in tournament wins (six) and wins in a season (four) and capped her freshman season by winning the 2013 NCAA women’s individual title by six strokes.

Pavin stayed in the L.A. area to play golf at UCLA, was a first-team All-American selection in 1979 and 1982, won 11 individual tournaments while with the Bruins and was the NCAA Player of the Year in 1982, the year he graduated.

Joh was named to the 2008 U.S. Curtis Cup team and was a two-time winner of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship (2006, 2008). While at UCLA, the San Diego native recorded 21 top-10 finishes, including two victories.

As a non-scholarship player at UCLA, Cockerill had six individual victories from 1983-86 and was an All-American and an Academic All-American in 1985 and 1986. She was named to the NGCA Hall of Fame in 1986.
