Chris Gilley of La Quinta Country Club won the Club Car Aggregate Series Jan. 9 at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta to earn a spot in the Farmers Insurance Open, which begins Jan. 26 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla.

Gilley’s round of 3-under 69 was good for a one-stroke victory over Jamie Puterbaugh of the Aviara Golf Academy. It will be the first Gilley has had an opportunity to play in a PGA Tour event.

Other top finishers were Kenny Pigman of Goose Creek Golf Club and Michael Block of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, who each shot 71; Brian Smock of Coronado Municipal Golf Course, Gordon Leith of Heritage Palms Golf Course, George Fiedler of Las Posas Country Club, Steve Holmes of Westlake Golf Course and Richard Mountford of Sunset Hills Country Club, who all shot even-par 70s; and Andrew Larkin of UCLA, Mike Fergin of Mesa Verde Country Club, Alan Scheer of Steele Canyon Golf Course, Alan Vosburg of Pelican Hill Golf Club and Rick Garboski of the Golf Development Complex, who recorded 71s.
